On The Case

Winner – Best Visual or Physical Theatre Production – 2006 Helpmann Awards
Winner – Best Choreography – 2006 Helpmann Awards

“...there’s no way of measuring the delight on the faces of the pedestrians, the residents, the random revellers...who looked skyward and found themselves thrust into a thrilling fantasy, a virtual world of pure theatre.” The Irish Times, October 2007

Welcome to On the Case – a game for four players.

A woman falls through the sky. Did she jump? Was she pushed? Should she PLAY or QUIT? The chase is on to snatch back what is rightfully hers, her stolen heart. But to succeed she needs to understand the rules of the game as she battles through each new level of endless corridors, dark cities, mysterious opponents and raging storms. Her objective: find the case, retrieve the heart and win the game.

“Brilliant devised video graphics … expertly directed … provokes our sense of wonderment”

The Age

Initially performed on the side of the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne this aerial delight could only be the work of Legs on the Wall, Australia’s premier physical theatre company. Famous for stunning choreography at dizzy heights, Legs on the Wall turn a building into a vertical stage as they run, jump, spin and fly through the air bounding against dynamic animated cartoons projections. With breathtaking imagery and daring acrobatic movement, this brilliantly innovative show is a game of chance with altitude.

On the Case was commissioned and first presented in March 2006 by Festival Melbourne2006, the cultural program of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

On the Case was presented at the 2007 Dublin International Theatre Festival.
