Ingrid Kleinig is a performer, director and choreographer. Since 2001 she has been a core member of Australia’s foremost physical theatre company Legs on the Wall. Works include Runners Up, Clearance, Homeland, Eora Crossing and On the Case. In 2005 she directed Infiniti which toured to Seoul, and directed and performed Four on the Floor through regional Australia, and at the Australian Dance Awards. In this time she has performed with the likes of Sydney Theatre Company, Beijing Modern Dance Company, Australian Dance Theatre and Company B Belvoir. 2008 sees Ingrid in Bubble at the Sydney Opera House, Beijing for the Olympics and Minutes of a Parting with STC in Geneva.
Recent independent endeavours include the short film Shadowplay (choreographic consultant) produced by Porchlight, and movement director for ABC Genre Idents. She has just finished choreographing the feature film The Eternity Man (co-commissioned by the BBC & ABC) & directing a new short physical theatre film Elevator. Theatrically speaking she directed and performed three works for Company B Belvoir’s B-Sharp ‘01, ‘02 & ‘04 seasons, titled Smotherslove, Web (supported by a residency at the Choreographic Centre Canberra) and Imperfect .
