Legs On The Wall runs a unique program of physical theatre school workshops that can cater for every level of experience; from absolute beginners to advanced students.
We offer the opportunity to have Legs on the Wall performers teach a workshop specifically catered to suit the size and experience of your group. These can be held in an appropriate venue of your choice (such as a school hall or drama room) or in our own rehearsal space, The Red Box.
Yrs 7 – 10 (Stages 4 and 5):
• Introduction to Physical Theatre.
An introduction into the broad range of styles, techniques and conventions of physical theatre. Students gain experience in circus skills, acrobatics, movement and dance in collaboration with others.
Outcomes: 4.1.1 & 5.1.1; 4.1.4 & 5.1.4; 4.3.1 & 5.3.1

• Playbuilding with Physical Theatre.
This workshop develops a deeper experience of physical theatre. Students explore the application of physical theatre skills and techniques using text, improvisation, narrative, character, story telling and choreography to develop and perform material.
Outcomes: 4.1.2 & 5.1.2; 4.1.3 & 5.1.3; 4.2.1 &5.2.1; 4.2.3 & 5.2.3

• Clowning, physical comedy and slapstick.
This workshop introduces the student to basic clowning skills - presentation, character, improvisation, slapstick and comic timing. It is a playful and inquisitive journey into spontaneity and the joy of being an “idiot”. It examines the various kinds of clown as well as classic routines, improvised and devised material. This is about fun and the pleasure of acting stupid.
Outcomes: 4.1.1 & 5.1.1; 4.1.2 & 5.1.2, 4.1.3 & 5.1.3, 4.1.4 & 5.1.4

Yrs 11 and 12 (Stage 6):
• Group Devised work.
This workshop explores the skills needed in collaborative and self devised processes in improvisation, playbuilding and acting. Focusing on physicality, students explore how to put ideas into action and give shape to their material for the Group Performances. They will learn physical theatre techniques to enable them to develop their own physical vocabulary using text, gesture and everyday movement.
