LIGHTING DESIGNER - MAN WITH THE IRON NECK

A graduate from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Matt’s designs have earned recognition with both Helpmann Award and Australian Production Design Guild nominations for Best Lighting Design. Matt is currently a mentor to technical production students at National Institute of Performing Arts (NIDA). In 2016 Matt has designed the lighting for Home (Perth International Arts Festival) directed by Nigel Jamieson, La Cenerentola (Oper Leipzig & San Diego Opera) Armida (Pinchgut Opera), Barber Of Seville (Opera Queensland), 2016 Wharf Revue (Sydney Theatre Company), Hidden Sydney (City of Sydney – Art & About) and Billy Elliot to open the new ASB Waterfront Theatre (Auckland Theatre Company). In 2015 Matt designed stage lighting for La Traviata(Belvoir), 2015 Wharf Revue (Sydney Theatre Company), Bajazet (Pinchgut Opera), Velvet (Adelaide Fringe Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Brisbane and the Sydney Opera House), B Girl starring IOTA (Sydney Opera House), Dream Home(Ensemble), Caress/Ache (Griffin) and Beat Box an installation at Dream World (Dreamworld/JB Worldwide Events).
