What happened in Leg Up?

Well…first of all as a whole, I had a genuinely great time, and everyone in the Legs team are also just great people to learn from and be around. Of course, I came into the Leg Up program with the desire to learn from and perform with Legs, and naturally it lead to performing in two productions, which were great to be in. I enjoyed the processes of the works and the vibes of the room were relaxed and welcoming. Overall I also learnt some physical theatre skills and performance skills which are new in my arsenal, particularly in regards to text and acting principles. I also got exposed to some aerial harness skills, which wouldn’t be unexpected for an aerial physical theatre company.

The program also led to a bunch of other random non performative work/things, which was unexpected. I learnt a bunch of random new skills related to the overall running of a physical theatre arts company. Things such as counterweighting on a production which was set up at the edge of a canal. Then, came some venue preparation and bump in/bump out work a.k.a manual labour a.k.a move the huge floor. Then lastly on the list was some venue assistant and admin work which honestly is not ‘bio’ worthy information about myself and my skill set but hey, it happened and here I am a little bit more well-rounded.
