Projects we are currently working on include:
The Man With The Iron Neck
The Man With The Iron Neck will be an exciting and breathtaking new piece of Australian physical theatre. Focussing on the lives of four young people in a regional community, this work explores what happens when they lose a brother.
It is a story of survival.
This work explores sensitive issues and themes that are universal to Indigenous and socio-economically challenged communities. We will continue to work with Headspace as we develop ways to explore these in a way that is accessible across age, culture and geography.
This exciting partnership sees Legs working directly with NAISDA students and teachers across four years from Certificate III – Diploma in order to build physical theatre skills and strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander presence in the industry. As well as building on skills this partnership develops relationships between Legs and emerging performers, providing an introduction to Legs and the wider industry with opportunities to work with Legs post graduation.
We are working with NIDA in a variety of ways and started on the development of Fight, Flight, Freeze (FFF) in July this year. Legs performers teamed up with NIDA 2nd year Movement students and started the process of developing FFF for a 2016 premiere. This partnership aims to foster the development of physical theatre performers and build a connection with Legs as well as provide opportunities for Legs performers to transition into Creative roles; supporting and strengthening new voices to participate and influence the direction of physical theatre.
Classes @ Legs
We offer a variety of classes such as handstand and tumbling, acrobalance and our speciality, wall running classes. The demand for these has been growing and we have seen people flying in from as far as Queensland to take part in our Weekend on the Wall intensives. We are hoping to expand our offerings of gravity-defying classes in 2016 and would like to do more of our one-day workshops which offer people a full day exploring a variety of ground and aerial physical techniques to play with in the Red Box.
A creative lab that brings together performers, both established and in the early stages of their careers, to exchange skills, ideas and sow the seeds of future projects.
We welcome you on our journey and invite you to be a part of our future.
