Legs On The Wall supports voting “Yes” to change the constitution to recognise First Nations and Peoples by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Islander Voice.
We similarly endorse the Uluru Statement of the Heart and its further call for Makarrata.

Legs proudly produce First Nations led art, with First Nations artists in key roles guiding our current and future pathways. Through our physical practice Legs celebrates story, bold ideas and strong statements and, in everything we do, we aim to live up to the principles of listening and paying respect.

There are many steps and pathways required to make social and cultural change; no single step is enough. Enshrining a Voice to Parliament—which will formalise important consultation between Government and First Nations people—will not in itself be all we need to do or think about, or preclude other positive actions for change, but we feel it is an important step in the right direction. While we are clear on our view we respectfully acknowledge different viewpoints. We recommend the resources listed below as a selection of further relevant and reliable information.

Looking ahead to the period of the referendum campaign we reflect on the principles of listening, sharing, staying well-informed and taking care of one another; values which have been passed on by our Elders, and values which underpin the conceptual founding of a Voice.
