East Coast Artist Exchange — LOTW x STUDIO1

Sydney’s Legs On The Wall and Brisbane’s Studio1 are collaborating in a cross-state residency exchange program, which will see an artist from each company given financial and creative support and studio space to develop new work and networks in each city.

Applications closed 11.59pm 15th March

  • Two weeks of residency, with one week at Legs in Sydney and one week at Studio1 in Brisbane, with opportunities for showings in both states.

    Sydney Artist dates:

    • Week 1: 20th - 24th April at Legs On The Wall

    • Week 2: 24th - 28th August at Studio1

    • Showing: 28th August at Studio1, LOTW showing TBD

    This is a PAID opportunity, covering

    • 2 weeks of artist fees

    • 1 week of living away from home allowance

    • Accommodation support

    • Return flights to Brisbane

    During your time at Legs, you will have three days in our famous Red Box with access to simple aerial rigging, and two days in our upstairs studio.

    Whilst at Studio1 in Brisbane you will have access to a single point rigging.

  • Legs On The Wall is a leading Sydney-based physical theatre company known for creating gravity-defying aerial spectacles, site-specific works, and impactful performances over a 40+ year history.

    Studio1 is a Micro-arts precinct and Meanjin/Brisbane's creative hub for artist’s experimentation, exchange & collaboration

  • We are seeking a Sydney-based physical theatre, dance, circus, or performing artist with an established practice interested in developing new work. This is not a first-stage R&D opportunity, and would best suit work that has already had initial development and is looking to progress.
