LEG UP + LEG ROOM 2026

Leg Up is our continued commitment to fostering and developing independent artists, prioritising recent graduates or practitioners in the early stages of their career. The focus and intent of Leg Up is an opportunity for professional development through the sharing of physical and theatrical know-how with the potential of future work with Legs On The Wall. The program is made up of a small group of artists that have shown a vested interest in the company and a passion to develop their skills, and runs over a 12-month term.

Our 2026 Leg Uppers are: Hayley Crisp, Jemma Evans, Kennross Obciana, Maria Martin and Niamh O’Sullivan.

Leg Room offers artists space and opportunity to practice their craft and test ideas without the pressure of outcomes, with priority given to independent and/or unfunded artists. Successful applicants have the support of the Legs team and our venue resources, as well as the option to share their work to a group of invited peers and industry professionals.

Our 2026 Leg Room participants are:

  • Luca Trimboli playing with themes of climate crisis, geopolitical instability, and the Australian landscape’s capacity for radical regeneration

  • Simonne Smiles developing the second act of GOLD, a ballet set during the Australian gold rush, merging classical ballet with aerial artistry

  • ️ Emily Lecky developing a children’s physical theatre and circus show about wishing

  • Natasha Sturgis developing a new piece exploring what it takes for a group of people to live in community
