LEG UPPERS 2024

Leg Up is our continued commitment to fostering and developing independent artists, prioritising recent graduates or practitioners in the early stages of their career. The focus and intent of Leg Up is an opportunity for professional development through the sharing of physical and theatrical know-how with the potential of future work with Legs On The Wall. The program is made up of a small group of artists that have shown a vested interest in the company and a passion to develop their skills, and runs over a 12-month term. Check out recent past programs here.

Our 2024 Leg Uppers are Anisah Collins, Courtney Allerton, Danni Cook, Joshua Doctor, Kai Taberner, Remy Rochester & Will Bartolo

LEG ROOM 2024

Through Leg Room we offers artists space, to provide opportunity to practice their craft and test ideas without the pressure of outcomes, with priority given to independent and/or unfunded artists.

Successful applicants have the support of the Legs team and our venue resources, as well as the option to share their work to a group of invited peers and industry professionals.

2024 Leg Room is already off to a huge start with 6 residencies across January and into February.

Kicking off the start of the year with Phaedra Brown, a 2023 Leg Upper, with her collaborator Haley, working on a cross disciplinary work that explores the multifaceted experience of feminine friendship. Then we welcomed Dorothea Csukai and her collaborators Mim Wheeler & Robyn Simpson to continue on their 2023 residency for Hanging by a Thread. Followed by Emily Lecky and team, integrating their vertical dance learnings into more refined set of movement phrases, before venturing back outside to film on Tasmania's striking sea cliffs

Recently we’ve had Glory Tuohy-Daniell, a proud Indjalandji Dhidhanu and Alyewarre artist centring her work around the expression “let’s just put this conversation to bed“, and Reina Takeuchi asking the question: how can the body become a living vessel of culture, an embodied and breathing site of intangible cultural heritage?

Into February we will welcome Catherine Wait and the Cirque X collective of circus/cabaret performers headed by Missy (Catherine Wait) and J Twist (J Miller). Following on from the success of their show TENDER at Sydney Fringe, they will undertake further development before presenting at Adelaide Fringe in March 2024.
