Johsua Thomson
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Joshua is a celebrated director, maker and performer, with particular skills and passion for physical and aerial performance. He has won a Helpmann for Best Physical and Visual Work with The Farm at Bleach festival in 2019 as well as being nominated for Best Male Dancer that same year. Joshua has toured extensively both nationally and internationally with his own work as well as for companies including Marrugeku, The Farm, Dance North, Physical Virus Collective (PVC) and Tasdance and has collaborated on recent major works with Bangarra Dance Theatre.
Joshua has performed with Legs On The Wall since 2012, and was appointed Artistic Director in 2018. Recent works include THAW, which sees a performer suspended atop a 2.7 tonne ice sculpture, suspended from a crane over water, Holding Achilles, an epic collaboration with Dead Puppet Society, LOVERS, a dazzling aerial duet spectacle overlooking the World Pride March, and BEETLE, an instant Australian classic, which reminds younger audiences that there’s an important place in the world for all of us. Joshua's work is bold and unafraid whilst remaining engaging and accessible to theatre aficionados and new audiences alike.
